Technology ruins romance (pt 1)

Technology is helpful. And stupid, sometimes. For me, it's most of the time.
Lots of people use technology to keep in touch with their friends/family/boyfriend/girlfriend/amigo, etc. So that's where the helpful comes in.
And then there's the stupid side. It's definitely not a good idea to mix technology and romance together. If you do - good luck mate and I'll see you on the other side.

But we all know that technology ruins romance. And that's why in this day and age, romance is dead. Because technology is everywhere.

The pros and cons of technology in romance:

Pro: You can find anyone online and see all their information, right there in front of you.
Con: If you can see their information, what about yours? You might want to check your privacy settings.

This could be you
Pro: It's easier to keep in touch. Call them, text them, message them on Facebook, tweet them, whatever.
Con: They're going to do the same to you, until you're ready to block them. They'll probably find you on some other social networking site.
Con: Unless you've got unlimited call/text services on your phone, you're going to need to find some way of supporting your romance.

Pro: If you're in a long distance relationship, you can use email or messenger. Those two are free, but what could be better than the phone? Hearing your lover's voice from the other side of the world - must be amazing, right?
Con: Money, again. Don't forget long distance call charges. -_-

Pro: You can see each other everyday via Skype, Facetime or *gasp* in real life.
Con: You'll get sick of seeing each other. Absence makes the heart grow fonder.

Pro: Breaking up is easy! Send them a text, or even better, break up with them via the great and powerful internet.
Con: You'll look like a jerk. Give them a break, end it face-to-face. Some things do not belong on the grid, especially if you're a guy doing this to a girl. We're sensitive. Doing this makes you a spineless coward.

Pro: Getting back together is easy! Just send them a text!
Con: They may have blocked you.
Con: You could end up messaging the wrong person.

Pro: With so many new songs about break-ups and getting back together again, you can use song lyrics to tell that special person how you feel about them.
Con: They'll probably figure out what you're trying to do.

I'm going to come up with a sequel to this post soon, I just need a brainwave.

Okay bye and may the odds be ever in your favour :)

  1. I like how you wrote about the pros and cons of technology and romance. I totally agree with you for the whole thing. Romance isn't a perfect partner with technology.

I can't wait to see your part 2 for it. I will really interesting to hear you next part.

    1. It's really hard to keep up with romance nowadays, what with so many distractions online - honestly, I don't think anybody has time anymore. So of course it's only natural that we try to multitask and things don't always go so well!

Super happy my post was something you related too. Have you ever tried to mix romance with technology? (Tip: don't.)
